Learning English isn’t just about grammar and vocabulary — for us, it’s a journey toward the confidence to speak up, connect with new people, and see the world a little differently.
That’s why VCV brings people closer together through hands-on English learning and genuine cultural exchange. We walk alongside Vietnamese youth, postpartum women, children, and communities with limited access to English education — creating friendly, judgment-free spaces to practice, grow, and be heard.
And it’s a two-way journey: volunteers who come to teach often leave having learned just as much — about Vietnam, about connection, and about themselves
Our Approach
Every VCV program looks a little different. Some last a week, others last months. Some happen in a university classroom, others in a mountain village. But underneath all of them is the same belief: that learning English should build confidence, not just vocabulary — and that real connection always goes both ways.
Whether you join a long-term Volunteer Program or a short-term Cultural Experience, you’re stepping into the same mission — creating spaces where people can build confidence, practice real communication, connect across cultures, and access opportunities they might not otherwise have. It’s also why we built VCV the way we did: a work-exchange model that keeps every program accessible, so impact never depends on who can afford it. As long as that stays true, VCV will keep growing — not as a bigger organization, but as a wider circle of people learning, connecting, and exchanging something real
What it takes to become a VCV volunteer
We’re not just looking for teachers — we’re looking for people who fit our ethos: easy-going, warm, and ready to treat this like family, not just a placement. You’ll share meals, stories, and everyday life with students who become more like friends and guides than “students” in the traditional sense.
You don’t need a teaching certificate, prior classroom experience, or to be a native speaker. What we do ask is that you speak English at an advanced level, with clear pronunciation — because our students deserve a genuinely good learning experience.
With a manageable schedule, you’ll have plenty of time to explore Vietnam, build lasting friendships, and meet people from all over the world — while your own confidence, communication skills, and cultural awareness grow right alongside your students.
What We At VCV Will Provide:
- Two home-cooked meals a day
- A bed in a shared room, or a private room depending on your program (see program details)
- Access to a shared bathroom
- Wi-Fi, laundry, a rest area, and bedding provided
- Help with visa information
- An official volunteer certificate
- A letter of recommendation, available depending on your program
- Support with lesson planning and teaching

The requirements to join VCV
- Volunteers must be over 18yrs
- Volunteers should be fluent in English
- Volunteers need a clear accent
- A copy of your passport with 6+ months validity
- A copy of your flight details
- We recommend travel/life personal insurance too
- Prepared to teach students for 4-5hrs per day
- Committed to 6+ weeks (depending on programs)
