Ms. Michelle: “I had an unforgettable Time Of Volunteering to Teach English at VCV “

Ms Michelle – PhD in Psychology – from Australia, has just finished a 3-month journey volunteering at VCV. She first found out about us via the Worldpackers platform when she was attracted by our mission to improve the lives of those who can’t afford English classes in Hanoi, Vietnam. This resonated deeply with her who is passionate about lifelong learning and the transformative power of education.

Her last words were: “As for my most memorable moments here, there are too many to count! From exploring stunning scenery to forming lasting friendships, my time at VCV has been unforgettable. Saying goodbye to my students, fellow volunteers, and VCV staff will be difficult, but I’m grateful for the incredible experiences and friendships I’ve made here”.

Having taught VCV students of all ages from children as young as 6 to determined adults, she feels incredible rewarded thanks to not only her helping them to study English but also strong bonds she has formed with them.

Additionally, she shared that living and working alongside volunteers ranging in age from 18 to 77 has been a wonderful experience. They have become close friends and enjoyed various activities together, such as exploring the city, visiting pagodas, trying local specialties like different coffees and street foods, and even taking short trips outside the city,… Additionally, she has had the pleasure of interacting with Vietnamese volunteers and staff, engaging in cultural exchanges and forming meaningful connections. All of these make saying goodbye to them truly upset.

For future volunteers at VCV, she recommends traveling lightly, packing for the weather, and planning an itinerary carefully to make the most of your time here. It’s easy to lose track of time with so much to see and do!

Ms. Michelle was in her workshop about "Stress Relief", which drew a lot of attention of Vietnamese youngsters who struggled to find work-life balance.
